→ ENGLISH TEACHER: The sign for Leadbetter’s Bake Shop isn’t up on Castro St yet, but the gigantic English muffins, sandwiches, and pizzas are already rolling out of the oven. Goods from Jamieson Leadbetter were a farmers market standby in the 2010s, but the company was rebranded as gluten-free company Better Bakeries in 2016. Now it’s back with all the old faves, like his family’s cranny-free sandwich loaf muffins, as well as new offerings like turnovers and whoopie pies. Coffee isn’t served yet, but when it is, it’ll be from Andytown beans. 554 Castro St (Castro), walk-ins only.
